Basic Minimum Liability Insurance for Foreigners in Czech Republic
Emergency Health Insurance only covers the basic liability as required by the Ministry of Interior, of at least 60.000 EUR and 400.000 CZK repatriation costs. Emergency Health Insurance only offers urgent / acute care coverage (in case of an accident etc). Some companies may offer higher limits or coverage in the entire Schengen zone, but never non-acute care.

4 Reasons why not to buy the Emergency type
1] Emergency Health Insurance only covers the basic liability but no coverage for normal non-urgent visits to the hospital, doctor or dentist.
2] Most embassies only accept the Emergency Health Insurance for tourist purposes, but not for any other visa, such as a business visa!
3] Emergency Health Insurance is only suitable for the first visa, for extending a visa the Complex Care Health Insurance is a requirement.
4] The price difference between the Emergency type and Complex Care type of Insurance is usually only a few 100 (hundred) CZK per month - especially when there are discount offers.
Our recommendation: To avoid any visa- or coverage problems, take the Complex Care Insurance instead of the Emergency type.
